Curtis Chung


Coach Chung is our Coach for the ITFC and comes with a wealth of knowledge from his competitive days as a sprinter and as a successful high school coach.

He graduated from Grady High School in Brooklyn, NY. He was an All-State runner in the 400m, finishing 2nd at State. He clocked in a personal best of 48.2 seconds for the event as a high school athlete. He also ran the 200m, 4×100, and 4×400 for Grady HS and ran cross country as well.

Chung is a University of Iowa Student Athlete Alum where he completed his undergraduate studies as a full scholarship athlete. He was an All-Big 10 athlete his freshman year for the Hawkeyes. He is on the All-Time list for the Hawkeyes for both the indoor 400m (47.65) and the outdoor 100m (10.40). He was also the outdoor Big 10 Champion in the 1600m relay (3:07.05). Chung’s leadership was crucial to him and his team’s success as he was named team captain for the Hawkeyes during his time there.

He comes to ITFC with a successful coaching career. He coached at Benson High School in Omaha, NE for 6 years. He specialized in coaching the 400m runners. During his 6 years there, his 4x400m relay teams won the Class A State Title twice. He also coached three 400m runners to top 3 finishes at the state meet in four years.

Coach Chung currently works for the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as the Project Management Office Director.


Colton Schwartz

Coach Colton Schwartz is our cross country and distance track and field coach in his third year in working with this program. As an assistant coach he has helped to build the distance program at Mid-Prairie High School located in Welman, IA. While assisting with cross country from the years of 2011-2015, his accomplishments include setting school record state cross country meet finishes of 6th place for the girl's team, and 4th for the boy's team. 

He began coaching track and field as an assistant for middle school boys and girls in the seasons of 2012 and 2013 before moving to the position of high school boys assistant coach for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. 

Coach Schwartz, along with the rest of the ITFC coaching staff, welcomes athletes at all levels of competition. Whether you are pursuing a career at the next level, just want to see your times continue to drop, or would like a great group of athletes to train with recreationally, Schwartz is always willing to do his best to help you do yours.
